Task

1. On
separate pages in your notebook, you will draw pictures of where Union,
Confederate, and United States Colored Troops may have lived before they joined
the army. Draw pictures that clearly
reflect the lifestyle of these three groups of people, as you imagine them to
be. Use at least four colors in your illustrations.
2. You
will search the Internet (be sure to have the pictures you have drawn with
you).
3.
Use
the links provided for information from the Civil War era to answer the
questions listed below.
4. You will
write a brief persuasive essay, pretending that you are a southern farmer, a
slave working on a plantation, or a factory worker from the North.
5. In
this persuasive
essay, you will explain why the soldiers are willing to fight for their way
of life if a civil war should begin.
6. Be
sure to take notes in your notebooks as you search for answers to:
·
Who was fighting in the Civil War?
·
Where did these soldiers come from?
·
Who would have lived in this area: A
Confederate soldier, a white Union soldier, or an African American
Soldier? Why?
·
What were their lives like before the war?
·
What motivated them to keep fighting even
as the war dragged on?
