Process

 

Choose to write as southern farmer, a slave working on a plantation, or a factory worker from the North.

 

Take notes that answer the questions listed under “Task” as you explore the links supplied under “Resources” based on your choice of farmer, slave, or factory worker.

Click on the picture of the Declaration of Independence, and read the first paragraph to help you develop an understanding as to what these words meant to a Confederate Soldier, a Union Soldier, a United States Colored Troop fighting in the Union Army.  Take notes!

 

Read “What is a Persuasive Essay”.

 

Write a draft of your persuasive essay explaining why the soldiers were willing to fight for their way of life.

 

Evaluate your draft.  Complete the entire evaluation.

 

Review rubric and edit as necessary.

 

Type a final copy of your essay in MLA format (no work cited page required), and attach your pictures to the final copy.
