January Week 1 Bequia January 1st Spent the first day of the year largely in bed (start as you mean to go on). On to Dream for last of the ham risotto. January 2nd Did a bit if diving today, two in fact, the second with Jan - visibility was excellent. Jenny Ed's sister is in town and she whisked up a very trendy meal on Dream consisting of a tomato and avocado starter, followed by prawn and meat kebabs with risotto and salad. Off to bed soon after, belly full and content, diving again on 3rd. My plan thereafter is to rest for a week and reflect (Malcolm's shrink told him this word!). January 3rd Diving our final two open dives today in beautiful clear water. First dive in Devils Table then over in the afternoon to to the Moon Holes. Me and the guys had great fun in the afternoon as we had passed all our skills in the morning which left us the afternoon to fool around in the water. Jenny (big boat) came on the dive too, all adding to the silliness. In evening lots of drinks (of course) to celebrates the completion of the course. Even sober Malc managed a couple of pints before retreating to Doris's food store for his daily fix. Had beers with Bob and Cathy the owners of the dive school and even managed to arrange another cheap dive in a more challenging spot for Friday. Then it was all on board Cherry for burnt Lasagne and later went to the odd Canadians' and forgot the oven was still on. Myself, Ed and Jen (big boat) went ashore for beer, Malc and Gen gone off to slumbersville - they were exhausted, post diving! January 4th No diving today, so a relaxing morning around the boat was had by all. We hired a jeep taxi and toured around the island - beautiful place, great beaches, top reef's and even a stop at a turtle factory (and you don't do that every day). Myself and Malc off to a Chinese for supper - very cheap and very tasty, retired to bed after beers with Rode Orn. January 5th Up bright and breezy this morning as I am diving today with Ed Gen, Jen and Johan out at Pigeon Island off the south east side of Bequia - great dive, deepest yet at 102 ft - lots of lobbies , barracudas, eels and the usual reef fish and coral. This dive was more mountainous with lots of interesting terrain to glide round in. Lunch in the Gingergread with all, plus Malc and Rhianno. Lazy afternoon, then all to Chinese for supper (making a habit of this). Back to the Frangapani for drinks. January 6th Dreamers last day. Whole day spent greeting Rhianna Kim and getting materials to sandpaper the boat, gas filled at Max Marine. In the afternoon Hecuba Sandy and Andrew appeared preceded by a swimsuit clad Swan 38 owner, whose name I have forgotten. Then on to Wandering Dream for another fantastic meal, pork tenderloin strips in ginger sauce with potato salad - all inspired by Jenny big boat whose presentation skills are extraordinary. Dom out all night with the kids from Dream. January 7th Ed and Jenny sailed away to visit a friend at Rodney Bay leaving at the ungodly hour of 600am . Still looked drunk as they left . Don't know how they manage . As for us, we were up at noon did some sanding then walked to Friendship Bay where we blew a week's budget on dinner. Incidentally, the pudding of smelly goats cheese should have carried a health warning . Back by taxi and tucked up in bed by 2130. . |
