Antigua

February 16th

Going to UK next Tues. In the meantime, Barry's coming here. Wandered marina in AM and at one point seemed likelyto get a charger but this fell through again. Oh, the  despair of getting one here - though every boat must have one. Ditto with the C Map. Ditto everything else we need . Varnished or rather sanded in PM and finished saloon floor. 

In evening, steaks was on the menu and then ashore for moody blues and beers. 

February 17th

Still on mooring in Jolly Harbour. Up and put first coat of varnish on the floors. Then Dom ashore while I start on spring clean. Abandon fridge and run diesel for 2 hours . Dom trying to get charger but probably won't work and looks as if I will just have to continue using diesel. In PM for swim, drink and then pork chop tea. Early to bed. 

February 18th

Up and varnished, fuelled and watered yacht. Then removed wind instrument. Then ashore to supermarket and walked to two deserted beaches. Just made it back. View from hill was excellent. In evening ashore to pub with Night Owl. Dom then out all night with Sam and returned 8.00am. 

February 19th

Disaster !!! Continued varnishing and repairing but have not managed to get the charger to Lee. Meanwhile engine smart charger now tripping out with high voltage and batteries failing. Went to St. Johns and got money with success. Very quiet though it was Sunday. Then repaired the mainsail cover. 

February 20th

Problem with engine charging . Found one fault but still not charging bat 2. OK on one however, so not all is lost. Put on last coat of varnish making a total of 4 and put the floor back. Out for dinner followed by drinks with Night Owl. Moved back to the marina. Home tomorrow. 

February 21st

Got the ticket at last and eventually set out at 10pm. Lee arrived to keep Dom company earlier in the day. Forgot the charger therefore necessitated 2 trips to airport.

February 22nd

Arrived in Gatwick and then Glasgow by 6pm

February 23

Doom and gloom in the papers due to Foot and Mouth disease.
