Antigua

February 08

 Up at 4 am (actually 2am as Dom restless again). Looked at engine at 0130am in case had vanished. Read charts, books, drummed fingers. Nice morning though uneventfull - 1 tack sail to Antigua. All crew recovered as we went through pillars and anchored off Galleon beach. Arrived about 2pm.

February 09

Dinner in the HQ restaurant very nice but pricey. Macrae and David paid so OK.

February 10/11

Visited St. Johns . Interesting church, rather like it, slightly up market. Busy and has duty free dock areas and would you believe it a KFC ! Went to Hemingway's cafe despite Dom. Bus to town and back for 2 dollars. 

February 12

Visited Jolly Harbour in AM. Macrae to airport by hired car. Eventually left, despite air traffic. Tickets changed and returned from Antigua. My ticket still lost.

February 13

Up at 0730am and went shopping, got petrol and returned hired car after visit to Shirley Heights. Then afternoon varnishing or sanding on shore and in evening to Colombo's Place for dinner.

February 14th

 Dom's birthday 23 today. Sanded wood after making him fabulous breakfast. Day not a success - swimming with no visibility. Dinner ashore in restaurant which was OK, but empty. 

February 15th

Up in AM at 7.00am and went to Falmouth - anchored off Cay Eletronics who looked at everything came to no conclusions and charged 340 EC. Left and went inside reefs to Jolly harbour - almost ended on sand but made it. Moored up at 10 dollars per night. Jolly appears empty of customers with most property empty. Beer even more expensive.
