Cherry Crest PTA sponsors Foreign Language Programs in the mornings before school during the school year. The goal of these classes is to foster young students' enthusiasm for other languages. Early exposure to languages may lead to future language studies and long-term scholastic growth. This is an opportunity for students to learn a new language. Languages offered: Japanese, Spanish and French. Classes are taught by trained instructors, provided through the American Cultural Exchange (A.C.E.) World Languages Programs, and are either native speakers of the language or have lived and worked in countries where the language concerned is spoken.
All classes are held at Cherry Crest. Classes for the regular morning program for each language are held twice a week before school, Mondays through Thursdays. Classes generally begin in October and continue through May. There are minimum requirements of students for each class. Tuition fees are generally calculated on a 20-week basis, taking into account the number of students enrolled. Therefore, there is a very limited refund policy and parents are expected to make payments of fees promptly so that the PTA can pay the instructors. Tuition fees include all supplies for students, and are payable in full. Details of fees for these programs are available from the PTA.
