The PTA sponsors a Homework Club (“HWC”) that meets every Wednesday afternoon during the school year in the Multi Purpose Room. Students are enrolled in the HWC on either an annual basis or for approximately 10-15 week sessions.
The HWC is staffed by paid, independent childcare consultants as well as unpaid volunteers from the Cherry Crest community. At the HWC, students are encouraged to complete their homework, engage in arts and craft projects, read and work on assignments such as writing newspaper articles, plays and stories. They also take part in educational family games. HWC staff assist students in these activities.
The HWC meets from the time school ends on Wednesday (1:05 p.m.) till 4 p.m. Students enrolled in the HMC may join and stay at the HWC for all or part of this time. Due to safety concerns Homework Club will no longer accept drop in care as of November 1, 2002. There is still space to sign up for weekly care.
