International Order of the Rainbow for Girls

Cherry Assembly meets at the Salem Scottish Rite Center at 4090 Commercial St. Salem, OR. 97302 on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00pm. All members of the Masonic Fraternity, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, parents and legal guardians of active Rainbow Girls, Majority Members, and of course, Rainbow Girls in good standing are welcome to attend. The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls was founded by W. Mark Sexson, a Freemason, and Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, in 1973, in Oklahoma where the Supreme Assembly still has it's headquarters. This assembly is a subordinate of the Grand Assembly of Oregon, which in turn is a subordinate of the Supreme Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. The Supreme Assembly is the body which governs the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls on a world wide level. All Regular Assemblies owe allegiance to it through the Grand Assembly for their state or territory.
The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is for girls ages eleven through twenty. Who are of strong moral character, believe in One Almighty God, and have a desire to help others through service. The Order teaches its lessons of Love, Religion, Nature, Immortality, Fidelity, Patriotism, and Service. Each of these lessons are taught at a color station in the Assembly Room.
Red is the first color station and represents Love. It
emphasizes the importance of love of home and family.
Orange is the second color station and represents Religion.
It emphasizes the importance of membership and active participation in the
church of your choice.
Yellow is the third color station and
represents Nature. It emphasizes the importance of spending time in the
out-of-doors.
Green is the fourth color station and
represents Immortality. It emphasizes that even though our body dies, our souls
live on forever.
Blue is the fifth color station and
represents Fidelity. It emphasizes the importance of loyalty to the Order and to
the Rainbow Girl’s family and friends.
Indigo is the sixth color station and
represents Patriotism. It emphasizes the importance of respecting the laws of
our country and its flag.
Violet is the seventh color station
and represents Service. Service is the foundation of Rainbow and emphasizes the
importance of providing unselfish acts of service to our home, community and
sponsoring orders of Rainbow.
