Citation for Scholarly Journal Articles


**There are two "main" numbers that you have to be aware of when using journals: the volume and issue numbers. Not all journals have issue numbers but ALL journals will have volume numbers.


Journals with volume number only:

Last name, First name MI. "Title of the Article." Title of the Journal. volume number(year of publication):

pages of the article.

example
Davidson, Natalie H. "The Demoralized Poe and his Heartbroken Creations." The Philological Quarterly.
110(1986): 230-235.


Journals with volume number and issue number:

Last name, First name MI. "Title of Article." Title if the Journal. Volume number.issue number(year of publication):

pages of the article.

example:
Larris, Anthony J. "The Unspeakable Truth." The Antioch Review. 23.3(2000): 28-40.
