                   My Manifesto

Hello everbody.  This is my website about my life in Japan.  I am an Junior High and Elementary English teacher in Matsubara City, near Osaka City.  I have been here since July of 2000.  I came as a particpant in the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program. 
II attended JCMU, a school in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, here in Japan, in 1999.  I went there, as I had not much else going on at the time and I wanted to begin studying Japanse and further my study of Japanese History.  While there I had the pleasure of studying Japanese History under Wittenberg University's Dr. Jim Huffman.  If you are interested in seeing pictures of this please refer to www.daninjapan.com, which was built by the programming genius, Dan Larson (who by the way still owes me $4 or my cd).
My interest in Japan stems from playing the video game Nobunaga's Ambition way back in junior high. Okay, this wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Hashikawa brothers who answered my incessant string of questions about Japan.  My interest was further fascilitated in college when Dr. Roy Hanashiro turned me on to Japanese History.  I was hooked from then on.  I have since made Japanese History my life's ambition. 
My love for the history and cultural ideals of this country by no means implies that I am a proponent of modern Japanese society.  Instead of disdaining the culture I have taken a back seat driver approach and decided to take a good hearty laugh at the entire situation.    Viewing another culture makes me realize the faults and curiosities of my own American culture. 
I am not a programming wizard.  If I were, I would not be using this format.  This by no means is supposed to be a professional website.  I just wanted to show my friends and family some pictures of what was going on in my life away from home.  This is only going to be viewed by a small audience.  Please keep this in mind before you criticize.
