I AM A SURVIVOR!
          We escaped two year ago
          And although we are still afraid
          That someday he will find us
          We still have so much freedom
          And we have each other.

          Why is it that when a mate is abusive
          We assume that it will never happen
          To the children?
          It took me a very long time to believe
          That he would hurt our children
          But he did it daily.

          I tried to do everything the right way
          I got the restraining orders
          I took my son to a counselor
          And I even agreed to supervised visitations.
          But everything was still falling apart.

          After the many many court appearances
          The final one came.
          I was awarded full custody
          And we took off.

          We don't look back anymore
          We quit wondering what would have been
          And we hug each other every day
          And thank God that he saved our lives.

          Maybe someday
          I will be able to tell my whole story
          But for now this is all I can say
          BUT
          I have many somedays now!
