I Hope You Know

When I say, “I love you,” I most likely do. When I say, “I hate you,” you should know that it’s not true. When I say that I never cared for you, I hope you can see the truth. When I say, “I’ll never leave you,” I hope you know I say it just for you and me. I hope you know it might not be true. When I tell you, you are getting on my nerves, I hope you know I say it because I care for you. I hope you know that even if I leave you with a smart remark and afterwards we never talk, that I will always hold you in my heart. I hope you know that this poem is for you. I hope you know that our friendship is more sacred than, “I do.” I hope you know that I am here for you even if I say I hate you, but remember that, “I hate you,” is really, “I hate what you do.” I hope you remember the time I took to write this for you. I hope you know that you have been my best friend since I said hello.
