I started for a walk today
I thought the woods would clear my head
And as I breathed the morning air
I thought of all the things you said
I lingered by the babbling brook
Your words running through my mind
The beauty of this peaceful place
Took me back to other times
I watched the birds flit gaily by
I saw the busy bees
They paid no mind to a lonely girl
Lost in the forest of trees
I thought of days gone by
When our love was new and the world felt good
I remembered the wildflowers you picked for me
When last we walked through the summer woods
Yes, I started for a walk today
With just my memories
And here by this brook I sit and I cry
Alone in this forest of trees
I feel the cool breeze as the brook rushes by
Babbling like the words in my head
No matter how much I may yearn for you still
You ended our love with the words that you said
Yesterday's gone..like our love, it's all over
But today, in this forest, the sun still shines thru
Bringing hope for a better tomorrow
I'll let go of your words..but hold on to the memory of you
Here in this forest of trees
Now..I must say goodbye and get on with my life
But my time with you was such splendor
Each time I see a forest of trees
It's you my heart will remember
