The day America mourns...

Today our nation has come together in mourning
over the great loss our country has suffered
  • The loss of friends and loved ones...
  • The loss of those that stand to protect us...
  • The loss of the fire fighters
  • The loss of the feeling of security
  • The loss of the feeling of trust

    The Lord's Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven,
    Hallowed be thy name.
    Thy kingdom come.
    Thy will be done
in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts,
    as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil:
    For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever.
    Amen.

As our President gave his speech, today during the memorial service,
we prayed that God gives him guidance in the days to come.

As the Lord's Prayer was being sung by Denyce Graves, we thought to ourselves about the number of scenes we have been witness to throughout this week.

  • The impact of the airplane hitting the WTC
  • The two fire fighters hugging each other after the trade center had colapsed
  • The terror in everyone's faces as they ran from the great wall of smoke
  • The Pentagon in flames
  • The sister crying as she held up her brother's photo
  • The tears... friends and families... fire fighters... reporters... our President near tears...
  • The changing of the guards while the American National Anthem was played
  • God Bless the USA
    ~by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
    I'd thank my lucky stars
    to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
    and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
    God Bless the U.S.A.

    From the lakes of Minnesota
    to the hills of Tennessee,
    Across the plains of Texas
    from sea to shining sea.
    From Detroit down to Houston
    and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
    God Bless the U.S.A.

    The 23rd Psalms
The Lord is my Shepherd: I shall not want

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
    I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
    Psalm 23
