                                                       Suspension

A suspension occurs when a student is removed from the class or the school for a given period of time depending on the offense.  This is an unexcused absence and parents will be informed of the suspension prior to the suspension occurring.

Suspensions will be implemented as a more serious consequence to problems not yet resolved by means of discipline or probation.  However, the following infractions will be cause for immediate suspension or expulsion.

The use of alcohol, tobacco, or questionable drugs in any form

Possession or use a weapon of ANY type

Insubordination or disrespect of staff members

Destruction of school property in major amounts (parents will be liable for damages)

Fighting (more than just the normal push and shove moments)

Irreverence to God

Truancy

Profanity, obscenity or gambling

Any action, which in the judgment of the administration or teacher, believes tarnishes the Christian testimony of the school

Types of Suspension:

The choice of suspension is left to the discretion of the principal and does not take board action although, the board will be informed of all actions.

In school Suspension: The student will work in a designated area outside of the classroom for the entire school day.  Additional work will be given during this period and all work missed is unexcused.

Out of School Suspension: This is the most serious penalty a student may receive, besides disenrollment, and board action will be required for this.  A student may be expelled at any time during the school year and is not allowed to return to the school during the semester the action was taken.  At the end of the expulsion period, the student is eligible for reevaluation in regard to readmission.
