Day 5
Today was a slow pace day, Steve woke feeling a bit off center with a headache and some trouble catching his breath so we slowed things down a lot. We left here to do a bit of shopping at the Park store down the road from us, then we decided to take a drive up the mountain to see if the elk were out and about today yet. We drove up to Rainbow curve where they have the road closed because of the snow. It was a beautiful drive but it seems the elk just were not out in the park yet. We headed into town to have lunch at a local burger joint we like so much and on the way in the park in the middle of town we ran across a harem of elk with a buck watching over them and keeping in line.
After a quick lunch we strolled a bit along Elkhorn Ave and while I shopped a bit Steve rested on the benches out side of the stores. It was a pleasant but slow pace to enjoy all the treasures that were available to bring home. With stuffed tummies and a walk under our belt we headed back to our condo and took a much needed nap before heading out to search for more elk.
