MINI STOCKING

Worsted weight yarn (or size 10 thread for smallest stocking)
Size I crochet hook (or size 8 crochet hook for smallest stocking)
Shell: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc
Ch 2. St St in 2nd chain from hook to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 5 (equals 1 dc and ch2). In ring just formed work [3 dc, ch 2] four times; 2 dc. St St in 3rd chain of first ch 5.
Rnd 2: Sl St into next chain space. Ch 3 (counts as first dc of shell), 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc (shell made) all into same space. Ch 2. [Shell in next space, ch 2] four times. Sl St in top of 1st chain 3. (equals: 5 shells w/ch 2�s between - a total of 10 �ch 2 spaces�)
Rnd 3:
St st in next 2 dc and into 1st space. [Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] all in same space.
3 dc in 2nd space.
In 3rd space make 3 trc, ch 1. Mark ch 1 with a silver pin. Ch 2, 3 trc.
In 4th space make 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc. Mark this ch 1 with a gold pin. This is the top front of the stocking.
In 5th sp make 3 trc, ch 3, 3 trc.
In 6th sp make 3 dc.
In 7th sp make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc.
In 8th sp make 3 dc.
In 9th sp make 8 trc. (This is the toe of the stocking.)
In 10th sp make 3 dc.
Join in the top of the first ch 3 of round. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Edging:
Fold the stocking in half, right side out, toe pointing toward the left, aligning the halves of the stocking, gold pin at the top center.
Join yarn in chain with the silver pin: ch 1, sc in same chain, ch 2. Sc, ch 2 in the next chain. Sc in next chain. Chain 7 (for hangar), join in 1st chain of the ch7 making a ring. Continuing in a circle around the ring just formed, 8 sc in ring, join in 1st sc of ring. St st at base of ring catching in the top front and left side bar of sc on base row of edging. [Sc, ch 2] in in next 3 trc; [sc, ch 2] in next 6 dc (skipping the ch 1 with the gold pin in it); [sc, ch 2] in next 3 trc. [Sc, ch 2] in next 2 chains.
Now, single crocheting through both thicknesses of the stocking from now on: sc in next ch (including the one with the silver pin in it). Sc down side of stocking, catching sides together, putting one single crochet *between* all tr and/or dc, ending at the ch 2 space. In the ch 2 space, make 3 sc. Continue across bottom of stocking putting 1 sc *between* all dcs/trcs. Stop just before last trc of toe, and fasten off. Weave in ends.
Slip 1 candy cane into the stocking, with the base of the candy cane in the toe.
