| Dark velvet curtain of the night Slashed by the si kle moon Thy smiling wound bleeds forth pale light And shadows fill my room Fleeting shadows chased by clouds Dance fast across the wall Images..alone..in crowds! An everchanging ball And flickering in their midst I see A vision, Breathless to behold Whose every movement raptures me Whose charms I must enfold Is this a dream? Or is it real? Can moon light play such tricks? How can I doubt the way I feel? Your Beauty thus inflicts In simple things like shadows My thoughts will turn to thee A stranger from another shore And love eternally Copyright 2000 by Squire Denis January 2000 |
