Who would have thought that a young girl from the south of France would become an international pop superstar?

That's exactly what Cherie did!

Born in 1984 in Marseilles, France, Cindy Almouzni (affectionately dubbed Cherie) began singing professionally at the age of nine, and it didn't take long for her to get noticed.  By the young age of twelve, she had won the French National Vocalist award, which was an incredible feat for someone of such a young age.  Award in hand, Cherie made a name for herself performing at local nightclubs and singing in cabaret acts until being swooped up and signed by Lava Records.

Once inking her deal at Lava, the record reps set up recording sessions in the U.K., Miami, and Los Angeles to produce material for her debut album with some of the top names in the business including Mark Taylor (Cher, Andrea Bocelli) Corey Hart (Celine Dion) and Rhett Lawrence (Mariah Carey).
Almost two years later, the product of those sessions was unveiled to the public: Cherie's debut album.

On August 3, 2004, Lava Records released Cherie's self-titled debut album to radio and retail.  Her first single from
Cherie, "I'm Ready", was featured in the movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the hit TV show Charmed.

Not only that, but the song exploded on top 40 radio, and earned her a spot as one of
AOL's "Breakers" alongside the likes of Christina Milian and Ben Jelen.

Her album got rave reviews - from even the toughest of critics.  She's been compared to the likes of pop greats Celine Dion and Shania Twain, and
Billboard Magazine calls her debut  "absolutely brilliant".  Not bad for a nineteen year old, if I do say so myself.

Another song from the album, the latin-driven "Betcha Never" is already getting exposure, without even being released to radio.  It's currently featured on the DVD
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, which is out on Warner Brothers Pictures.
Out of all that came a spot as an opener on the Clay Aiken tour, where she wowed thousands of fans performing material from her album.

Shortly after wrapping the tour with Clay, she embarked on another cross-country adventure, this time as a co-headliner on the
Simon DTour Live mall tour alongside singer/songwriter Ryan Cabrera and Ashlee Simpson.

Winning over new fans every day, it goes to prove that a great personality, amazing stage presence, and talent that's "older than her years" (no pun intended, heheh), Cherie is taking the world by storm, and it's just the beginning.
