I thought my life was wonderful when I met you.

You asked me three times to marry

and got me to say “I do.”

It did not take me long

to see your heart, to me, did not belong

I should have known then

your heart would never be true.

But I stayed giving my love to you

knowing one day, you would break mine in two.

I can see now you were destroying me,

My innocence of love made me so naïve.

Because of you I am not so dumb

Love does not pass through you

as light shines through colored glass.

For you have no soul to hold love close.

You have married again and told me

love has found you and you're happy as can be.

But it wont be long before you will see

Love for you is something that will never be.

Always at your grasp but you cannot reach

love is something you give not for you to keep.

Forever lonely you will be

Love will never touch a heart that cannot beat.
