WEEK 4
Our homework letter is D.
Ask your child to find the letter "D/d" on signs, labels, books, etc.

Continue to practice writing and recognizing  first and last name. At home, write your child's name and say each letter as you write it. Your child will begin to see these letters in other words and this makes them feel GREAT! This is a very important step in reading.

Nightly   Write first and last name three (3) times and read a book every night.
Practice writing Dd nightly. Draw pictures of things at home that start with Dd. Write the words.
Monday   Labor Day - No School
Tuesday   Draw a dozen (12) dinosaurs. Write the numbers 1 though 6 ABOVE six dinosaurs. Write the numbers 7 through 12 BELOW the remaining dinosaurs.
Wednesday   Draw a door. Where is the top, middle, and bottom of the door? Write these words where they belong. What shape is the door?
Thursday   Write the days of the week. (On back of homework sheet)

WEEK 5
Our homework letter is E.
Ask your child to find the letter "E/e" on signs, labels, books, etc.

This week, your child will be looking for E/e in text and memorizing The Elephant Poem.

Nightly   Write first and last name three (3) times and read a book every night.
Practice writing Ee nightly.
Memorize The Elephant Poem. Use an expressive (filled with feeling) voice. (On back of homework sheet or see below)
Monday   Circle all the E/es in The Elephant Poem.
Tuesday   Draw three (3) elephants. Write the numbers 1 through 3 ABOVE each elephant. Write the number words (one, two, three) BELOW each elephant.
Wednesday   Draw five (5) eggs and color them. Next, draw a box. Draw three (3) eggs INSIDE the box. Then draw two (2) eggs on TOP of the box. Color the eggs ORANGE.
Thursday   Be an author. Write a story about an elephant and an eagle. How did they meet? What do they do together? Where do they go? Why are they friends?


THE ELEPHANT POEM

The elephant is big and strong,
His ears are wide, his trunk is long
His eyes, they are so very small,
He's hardly any eyes at all.

His tail is very short and slim.
His skin is much too large for him.
No matter how he tries to grow,
It always seems to wrinkle so.

WEEK 6
Our homework letter is F.
Ask your child to find the letter "F/f" on signs, labels, books, etc.

This week your child will be making a family tree, using positional words, counting by 5s to 100,  and learning to write numbers and number words. 

Nightly   Write first and last name three (3) times and read a book every night.
Practice writing Ff nightly.
Count by 5s to 100.
Monday   Draw a family tree. Draw your family on the tree. (Grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters)
Tuesday   Draw a fox in a box. Draw four fish in a pond. Draw five frogs.
Wednesday   Be an author. Write a story about a farmer. Where does the farmer live? What kind of animals does the farmer have?
Thursday   Draw five flowers. Write the numbers one through five (1 - 5) BESIDE each flower. Write the number words (one, two, three, four, five) BELOW each flower.
