THORNHILL
FARM
Thornhill Farm is an actual working farm located in Davenport, Florida. Miss Jenny and Miss Helen show the children around and provide a wonderful learning experience for the children as well as the adults that come on the field trip. For example, I learned on this field trip that a hen lays only one egg a day and an ostrich lays one egg a year.
Cows eat grass, orange peels, alfalfa, and cow cereal. They also have very big, long tongues as we can see from Jess as he mimics the cow being fed alfalfa.

This
is Miss Helen and Joy. We learned that Joy has four stomachs and four
teats on her udder. Cows only give milk after they have had a baby.

Joy let us get first-hand experience at milking a
cow.
