| I've been a fan of BlackHawk's since I first heard their music but after seeing them for the first time, I'm now a HUGE fan of theirs. No matter what kind of electronic equipment you have, you can't beat a live performance and in such a small venue! Shortly after this night, I acquired Henry Paul's self-titled album from his rock~n~roll days and the Outlaws' Grey Ghost album(an awesome album). Here's a little of how the evening went. I don't remember all of the songs they performed but suffice it to say, they did most of their major hits and of course, "Postmarked Birmingham"...which I absolutely love. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My friends and I were waiting to get into Club 92.5, which holds about 300 people and has the smallest stage I've ever seen. There were about 30 people in line for a while and only 4 people in front of us at the front of the line. At one point while people were chatting, my friend's Mother nudged me in the arm several times and when I turned around, who was walking by but Henry Paul...looking for a way into the club. In typical school-girl fashion, I yelled out Oh My God! (okay several times :) ) When I yelled, others noticed he was there too and began wooohoooing! He was 2' away from me and although he acted a little surprised that someone would yell for him, he giggled in a manner that was resemblant to Garth. He said hello to everyone and before I could get my camera out, he'd entered the club. Anyway, we were let in and had a couple of hours before the guys took the stage. Once the DJ's came out, we took our spots in front of the stage(my knee was literally on top of the stage, it's only about 2-1/2' high)while some others continued dancing. By now the place is packed to the brim and it's extremely warm in there. At around 9:00ish everyone had filled the dance floor to be as close to the stage as possible, BH took the stage and did a couple of songs and he smiled at me several times. People were passing their cameras to me to get photos for them. Then Henry Paul talked about how great it was to be back in PA and how well Van was recovering from cancer. He also said to me, "I have never heard anyone yell as loudly as you did earlier; I mean I have never heard anyone yell like that before". He then said, "did you change your clothes from before"? I said, "no" and he said, "did you have a jacket on before" and I said, "yes". He then said, "oh, okay I can see all of you now" and grinned from ear to ear. Now before anyone gets the wrong impression, I was dressed all in black and not scantily either (black jeans, black top, black boots). Needless to say all my friends were saying, "alright Cheryl!", while others cheered and clapped. Before they left the stage for their first encore, my friend's Mother was given Dave's towel (he's her fav) and they handed out guitar picks. After they came back out on stage, I was given Henry Paul's towel by Dave and after doing some more songs and as they were leaving the stage for the night, Henry Paul turned around and winked at me. :) Those guys put on an awesome show and I can't wait to see them again!!! Hopefully I'll get to meet them next time too! |
