| Seeking an academic or engineering position matching with my professional interests. SUMMARY Proficient in Intel MCS-8051/96 series micro-controller, 80X86 series processor, TMS320 DSP; and the corresponding assembly / C / Matlab/ Simulink languages. Proficient in real time embedded system software/firmware development, integration and debugging. Familiar with Motorola 68xx / Thomson ST7 series micro-controller, Omron C200 PLC, PLD/ASICs, AD2xxx DSP, Visual Basic, Visual C++. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 08/00 ~ Present System Development Engineer Hydrogenics Corporation, Mississauga, Canada Develop, modify and transplant Human-machine interface and control software for fuel cell testing and control equipment -- a Distributed Control System configured by an upper-level PC/workstation monitoring platform and lower-lever PLC/PPC field control units and other data acquisition equipment. Projects completed: 1) FCATS-100 kW Fuel Cell Automatic Testing Stand. The distributed control system includes an industrial PC as the central monitoring platform and Field Point (from National Instrument) and Watlow pressure/temperature controller based field control units. Software was developed under DOS/C language. 2) FCATS-S series Fuel Cell Automatic Testing Stand. This fuel cell test stand is specially designed for single cell following the huge market requirement. Software was developed under Windows/LabView language for a stronger data processing function and more convenient operator interface. Both above systems have been applied successfully in various Fuel cell research institutes and companies. 07/00 ~ 08/00 Firmware Engineer (Contract) Skylink Technologies Inc., Mississauga, Canada Developed, modified and maintained software for ST7 series micro-controller based product --- Ezmail palm PC. The software, written in both C and Assembly, includes an embedded operating system and internet information accessing packages by Modem. 03/96 ~ 05/00 Servo Electronics Engineer Data Storage Institute, Singapore Designed control system for hard disk drive/CD servo systems including both theoretical research and control algorithm implementation using Matlab/ Simulink /TMS320 series DSP. Projects completed: 1) Multi-rate control algorithm for a high TPI HDD servo system. Developed a multi-rate control algorithm for a high TPI HDD servo system, including simulation using Matlab/Simulink, and implementation in Assembly/C using TMS-320 DSP. 2) Adaptive feed-forward RRO control for dual stage servo system. Developed an adaptive feed-forward algorithm to compensate RRO and improve the servo performance. The algorithm was implemented on the TMS-320 DSP platform. 3) Precise speed control for spindle motor system. Designed a micro-controller (MC6805) based spindle motor driver board to control the spinning speed at a reference value ranged from 0 to 7200 rpm. 4) HDD Testing-stand. Developed a position acquisition system for the teaching/researching purpose of the HDD servo system, using Visual C++ based on the product of MicroE Company. 04/92 ~ 03/96 Control System Engineer Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, P.R.China Completed engineering projects in industrial control system (hardware & software) design and implementation based on Intel 8051/96 and 80x86 computer systems. Projects completed: 1) DCCS-100 distributed computer control system. The distributed system includes an industrial PC as the central monitoring platform and MCS-51 micro-controller based field control units. Developed MCS-51 codes including control algorithms (using both C and Assembly) and interrupt driven communication codes (Assembly) with the IPC. The system was applied successfully in various industry plants such as power heat stations and industrial boilers. 2) Shanghai Satellite Base communication & general management network system in Xingzhuang, Shanghai, China. Implemented distributed system integration and a smart card door access system using MCS-51 micro-controller. This subsystem is used to read and control the information detected by the smart card system. 3) Transformer signal measurement and detector, Beijing, China. Co-developed and designed a general purpose transformer tester to measure and test the various kind of transformers for railway usage. Intel MCS-98 and PLD ASICs were applied and an embedded system was developed to monitor the signal input and send the testing data to a micro-printer. |
