VIDEO DOCUMENTARY

Their World This Time (director: Chris Reeves) Platform Films, London, 34 minutes, 1994
A moving documentary about the post war-housing crisis, squatting movement and requisitioning of empty property (including the requisitioning of a private garden in Montague Street, Bloomsbury, which the local Tenants' Association arranged to requisition for their children). This garden had to be handed back because the private owners, private hotels and the Bedford Estate found the children too noisy; they locked the gates and sent the small children back to risk their lives playing in the  busy street.

The film includes archival footage of long-term resident of Chenies Street Chambers, Johnny Morten (Patsy Futatsugi's father) seen shortly before he is lead away by police for throwing food up to the protesting squatters at the Ivanhoe Hotel, Bloomsbury. (front page of the Evening News, 12.09.1946).
