Chenies
Street Chambers |
Camden Leisure & Community |
Chenies Street Chambers was bombed on 17th April, 1941. On the War Damage Map (Holborn Local Archives Library, Reference 72.61 V9) for the North St. Giles Ward, our building was marked dark red, which meant 'seriously damaged and doubtful if repairable.' By 1947, it had ceased to be a Ladies Residential Dwelling and had become a Council Building providing subsidized housing for people in Camden. Pat Futatsugi (then a child of 5) remembers moving to live in their Council flat (Number 18) in 1947.
