Ever since the establishment of the new TV station, all Singapore's Chinese papers (they belong to the other station) rarely gives publicity or comments on MCS artistes or shows. Here is one rare special commentary which appeared in the Shin Min Daily. it was published in the readers' column
The article is long and profound. It touches on many issues in Singapore such as educational, language and housing problems. Only parts relevant to show are translated.

The debut episode of <<Kao
Shi Jia Ju>> which win slightly in ratings over <<Chuang Shi Ji>>
clearly contain some elements of Jack Neo's highly commended show, <<I
Not Stupid>>. The story is smooth flowing, the roles well-characterised,
and the dialogue witty and humorous. It uses the theme of examination which
parents are most concerned about.
When Singapore produced its first drama <<Wu Suo Nanyang>> 20 years ago it made the bold move of using all local actors/actresses but the backstage people were mainly from Hong Kong. Today we have arrived at the stage of <<Kao Shi Jia Ju>> with good actors/actresses, outstanding local script-writers, directors and producers. Shows with high rating are normally the gem product of local and foreign talents. This is the model of Singapore's smart move to success That is assimilate foreign talent to raise the citizen's social and cultural understanding and awareness...... (It then goes on to talk about the problem of streaming, the drop in the standards and appreciation of Chinese culture and the ways to improve it. It also talks about the family, housing and financial problems faced by Singaporeans).
P/S According to i-weekly latest report on 20 Jun. Ratings for <<Kao Shi Jia Ju>> was rising very fast and has taken away a quarter of U channel's TVB block-buster <<Chuang Shi Ji>>'s audience.
