What is being done?

Things are being done to prevent the ozone from further deterioration. In 1987,  the Montreal Protocol was made. It was a treaty that regulates the use of CFCs.  It said that the production of the CFCs will be cut to half by 1995. The United States and twenty-three other countries agreed to this in 1987. By 1993, over 140 countries agreed to the Montreal Protocol. The protocol does not only regulate CFCs. It also regulates the use of other chemicals. There are many international organizations that are concerned with ozone depletion. The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) held a discussion in 1982 to make a international plan for protecting the ozone. You can also do things to help. Getting rid of refrigerators properly, using halon-free extinguishers and the recycling of styrofoam.
