The Effects of Ozone Depletion
Ultraviolet rays from the sun are harmful to the health of living things. The UV rays damage many things. It causes sunburns, which can turn in to skin cancer. UV rays also destroys eyesight. Blindness, eye cancer and many other eye diseases are caused by the UV rays. They are harmful to the immune systems. Mutations are also cause by the UV rays. They are destroying small plants and sea animals, planktons, microscopic organisms. Planktons are the base of the marine food chain. Without it, the whole food chain would be destroyed. UV is also a danger to crops, such as, rice and soy. Rice and soy is one of the major food source.� It destroys clothing, paint and many other things that contains polymers. The ozone layer prevents the sun's UV rays from harming the life on earth. With the ozone depleting, UV rays are dangerous to the earth's survival.
The Hole
There is a hole in Antarctica. It was discovered in the late 1970s. As the years passed, the Antarctica Ozone Hole grew bigger and deeper. Every summer, the hole gets smaller. Every spring, it grow back. There are many other holes that are
widespread around the globe.
