| Sailor Moon was one of my first animes. It's a shoujo anime (Girl's anime) about the adventures of powerful warriors of a past era who were reborn on Earth in the present day to defend it from intergalactic bad guys. Each warrior is a guardian from a different planet, and they follow Sailor Moon (hence the name of the show). The show has spanned 200 episodes in Japan and has a HUGE following in America. It's based on a popular manga by Naoko Takeuchi called Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon), which is also worth getting ahold of. Currently it's translated and published by Tokyo Pop. The art is fantastic! Given the fantasy violence, and, if you get the subtitled Japanese versions, this series can be rated anywhere between G and PG. Maybe PG-13 at worst (most of the DVDs for the S series are rated thirteen and up). I still consider it kid-friendly, though, if you watch the censored dubs. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
