Nick's testimony
Our daughter was born in 1969 with a near fatal condition. She required
emergency surgery when she was 6 days old to remove a tumor that filled her
whole body cavity and was growing with her. If uncorrected it would crush her
from within.
I was 27 at the time and had now known the Lord in my life. As a matter of
fact I had no use at all for God. But the night before the surgery my wife and
I went to the nearest church and prayed (cried is more like it).
The next day when the surgeon opened her up he found that the tumor had turned
to a water-filled cycst overnight; instead of a lot of cutting with resultant
blood loss, they merely had to drain and shrink it, and cut it out. The doctor
called it a miracle because it never would have shown on the X-rays as a
cycst.
More miracles followed, and Mary is 27 years old now, with a 6-year old
daughter of her own.
We knew then that there was a God who could hear and answer prayer, but we
didn't know Jesus. We tried with everything we had to follow this God who had
done such a wonderful thing for us.
One night a year and a half after Mary was born, I did some repenting to my
wife about the way I had been treating my 2 sons. When I went to bed I heard
the name of Jesus in my ear and then I went to sleep. The next morning I woke
up a new man - I felt as if I was walking in a cocoon of love. He spoke to me
at work during the day and said "I am Jesus."
When I came home from work I told my wife that I had to tell her what happened
to me. She said "No, honey, I've got to tell you what happened to me today -
Jesus came into my heart."
What had looked like a tragedy turned into the greatest blessing we have ever
known.
