Quantico and northern Virginia were under a winter strom watch this week.  It's sad to see the Big Kahuna covered in snow.

Still, someday when we're cruising the Bahamas, I'll look back on this picture and smile.  Life will be better!

I'm living aboard and to her credit, the boat is taking the winter well.  It's tough going with no running water or head facility.  Look for those projects to post in the spring...haha!  First things first, I'll do the bottom before she goes back in.

Big Kahuna in the snow
Big Kahuna gets a fresh coat of paint!

The  hull was no big deal.  It's fiberglass and just needed sanding.  There are several coats of old barrier paint which should be sand-blasted off, but that it a project for another year.  This year's work was to scrape barnacles and muscles, check the sea-cocks, keel, zinc, and rudder, and get her back into the water.  I just want to make sure she's safe.

Because the keel is made of cast iron, there was a HUGE rust problem!
