Chapter 16
Main Page
^ H = change in enthalpy-- if it's postive then nonspontaneous
                                               neg- spontaneous
^ S = change in entrophy- if postive spontaneous
                                                neg- non spntaneous

^G = change in free energy-  if positive- non spontaneous
                                                    neg- spontaneous
^ T = change in temperature
^H= E H products -  E H reactants

^ S = E S products - E S reactants
^S universe = ^s reaction + ^S surroundings

^G = ^H - T^S

2nd law of thermodynamics- entrphy of the universe is increasing
3rd law of thermodynamics-  the entropy is zero at zero K for a perfect crystal
                     B--> C is spontaneous
^G reaction = -31.4 kj/mol      ^G f* c = 176.4 J/mol
What is the standard free energy of compound B?
                  ^G = ENp  ^Gp - EnR ^GR
                       -31.4 = 1764 - B

        B = 207.8 kj/mol
