| On May 31, 2001, AJ was in Science class which was shooting off rockets. There was extra time in the class period, so the kids played on the playground equipment. AJ fell about 4 feet flat onto his back. AJ's science teacher wasn't thinking to well, because he had AJ sit up and then walk. He never called AJ's parents and he never called for the nurse. AJ stayed at school unti the end of the school day. He got a ride with a friend and called his mom. His mom was in a lunch meeting at work. When she got AJ's message she called him as he was calling her. She instructed him to lay flat on his back. She and AJ's dad got home right away and called 911. They placed AJ on a back board and in a neck brace and took him to Balboa Naval Hospital. 5 hours later we find that AJ has broke his back. They want him to stay the night and fit him for a brace the next day. AJ is unable to move at this point, stuck only on his back, he is extremely bored. The next day, his dad went to work to re-enlist, his mom stayed as AJ was fitted for a custome made brace. This brace is to stay on his back for 6 weeks (see count down below). If AJ is awake... he is wearing his brace. The only time AJ's brace is off is when he is sleeping, no exceptions.
