Mops

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a non-denominational Christian organization open to all mothers and their young children, 0-5 or in kindergarten.  We believe that mothers are important, mothering matters, and moms need support.

Here’s some of the benefits of MOPS:

¨       Friendships with other moms, receive encouragement, and practical advice for surviving the preschool years.

¨       MOPPETS, a program for your children to grow and learn.

¨       Crafts, snack, and discussion time.

¨       Teaching based on biblical values about mothering, womanhood and relationships.

MOPS at Chelwood meets during the school year on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  Nursery and childcare is provided.  Dues are $5 per meeting, scholarships are available for those who cannot pay.  Call Jody (Coordinator) at 262-4881 or Jan (Mentor Mom) at 296-9397.

Small Groups

The number and variety of Small Groups within our congregation is growing with us.  Groups may be as small as two (with an empty chair left out for you) or as many as twelve.  Groups are of different types:

¨       Life-stage Groups:  Youth, Men, Women, Single, Married, Parents, 55+ (empty nesters)

¨       Felt-need Groups:  Parents of Preschoolers, Parents of Teens, Single-parents, etc.

¨       Spiritual Quest Groups:  Bible-study, Prayer, Christian-doctrine, etc.

¨       Ministry Team Groups: Education, Facilities, Fellowship, Hospitality, Worship etc.

All Small Groups share three common goals:

¨       Getting to know others betters,

¨       Growing in understanding of how God’s Word and the Christian faith applies to life, and

¨       Giving and receiving care and love.

Some Groups such as Ministry Teams or Task Forces have a fourth goal, Getting ministry planned or tasks completed.  Contact Pastor Roger Bouwman for information or to express an interest in a particular type of Small Group.
