Anchors Aweigh Facts:
This came as a surprise to me. Did you know the tune was actually written for an Army-Navy football game? It had been a tradition each year for the bandmaster, Lieutenant Charles A. Zimmerman, to write a march for the graduating class. Because nothing had ever really stuck, a midshipman, Alfred H. Miles, volunteered to help in 1906 with the lyrics. The result was played at the Army-Navy game for the class of 1907. The Army had defeated the Navy for the previous five years, but the tide was turned with a 10-0 victory. Miles liked to think it was his new song that broke their losing streak. And although the football game has long since been forgotten, Anchors Aweigh has lived on to become the Navy's most inspiring anthem.
Stand Navy down the field, sails set to the sky, We'll never change out course, so Army you steer shy-y-y-y. Roll up the score, Navy, Anchors Aweigh. Sail Navy down the field and sink the Army, sink the Army Grey. Get under way, Navy, Decks cleared for the fray, We'll hoist true Navy Blue So Army down your Grey-y-y-y. Full speed ahead, Navy; Army heave to, Furl Black and Grey and Gold and hoist the Navy, hoist the Navy Blue. Blue of the Seven Seas; Gold of God's great sun Let these our colors be Till all of time be Done-n-n-ne, By Severn shore we learn Navy's stern call: Faith, courage, service true With honor over, Honor over all.
Stand Navy out to sea, Fight our Battle Cry; We'll never change our course, So Vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y. Roll out the TNT, Anchors Aweigh. Sail on to Victory And sink their bones to Davy Jones, Hooray! Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh. Farewell to foreign shores, We sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay. Through our last night on shore, Drink to the foam, Until we meet once more. Here's wishing you a happy voyage home.

Yet another one of my pages that isn't finished. I just joined the Navy in July of 2004 and I'm sorry, this is all I have right now. I haven't even been to basic training yet. I have been assigned to work in the SECF (Submarine Electronics/ Computer Field). I will get to learn how to operate navigations, sonar, and weapons systems. I go to the recruit training center in Great Lakes, IL on December 7th. (Pearl Harbor Day for those who didn't know already.)

Below are some of the submarines I could be stationed on. The first two are Seawolf class submarines. You can see how small and cramped they can be.
This one to the right is the USS Salt Lake City. I though it fitting to put this here since I'm from Salt Lake City. This is a Los Angeles Class Fast Attack Submarine and is more likely the type of submarine I will be stationed on.
