A big thanks go out to Bubba and Lush for the quick beta work and for helping me
with the costume ideas.
Mel:
Amanda
gasped and placed her hand over her mouth.
"What's wrong honey?" Lee asked reaching out to
give her a hug.
Amanda stepped into his embrace, after a few minutes she
pulled back
enough to look up at him.
"Um Lee, what room number is our room." Lee
reached into his pocket
and pulled out the key. "It's 644.
"Oh my gosh," they said in unison. Amanda pointed
to the room her
mother entered. "Mother is in 646. Their room is right
next to ours."
Lee groaned, “Why is it every time we can get away something happens to mess up our plans?”
“Can we get a different room, you think? I don’t want to sit there and listen for my mother all night long, or worry about her hearing us.” Amanda shuddered.
Pulling his wife close to his side he led her back to the bank of elevators. “I’ll talk to the people at the front desk and see if I can work something out.”
Leaning down for a quick peck on her lips, they exited the elevator and went their separate ways.
After watching her husband’s retreating form Amanda turned and walked down the hallway and ran smack into an, ostrich. “Excuse, me, I didn’t see you there. Very sorry.”
“Amanda?” Came the slightly muffled reply.
Unable to see the person’s face, she quickly tried to place the voice. Amanda smiled, “Yes and you are?”
“It’s me Dean! Wow, imagine running into you after all this time. How have you been?”
“Oh my gosh! He’s part of that animal group.” Trying to cover her shock, Amanda smiled, “I’m doing great. The boys are well, and Mother is doing really well. I’m here for a party with the company I work for, IFF. How are you?”
“I’m doing good. I am still working at the weather bureau. I’m dating this really great gal, she’s here tonight with me. She’s the possum over there.” Dean pointed over his shoulder at his date. “I think I’m going to propose tonight, I’ve gotten us a room upstairs too, 642,” Dean confided.
“There you are Amanda, I’ve been looking for you.” Lee walked up and wrapped a possessive arm around her waist.
“Dean, Lee, Lee, Dean.” Introductions complete, Amanda turned and looked into her husbands’ eyes.
Noticing the slight tinge of pink on her cheeks, he grinned. “Nice to meet you Dean. I think I’m going to steal Amanda away for a dance though. She promised me one and I still haven’t collected.”
“Nice to meet you too. I really should get back to Emma before that pink bunny over there tries to snatch her away.” Dean extended his hand to Lee. “Great to see you again Amanda, you take care.” Brushing a light kiss across her cheek he walked away.
“So that’s Dean…”
