Iris is the Messenger Goddess.
Daughter of the Titan Thaumas and Electra.
Although she was a sister of the
winged monsters, the Harpies,
Iris was represented as a beautiful maiden,
with wings and robes of bright colors
and a halo of light on her head,
trailing across the sky with the rainbow
she travelled on in her wake.
She was also called the Goddess of the R a i n b o w.

This is an open plea from any individuals, businesses, companies, organisations etc. to aid me with any donation, no matter how small, for the photographs in this exhibition to be developed.

My project is a multi-media exhibition comprising photographs, paintings and writing. The photographs and paintings are my own and the words are relevant references and excerpts from various writings regarding
"Dark Places"

I am an Artist from Dun Laoghaire. My project came out of a sad and simple metaphor relating to the death of my friend Barry, who took his own life, and left here in a very dark state of mind indeed. To think of his last days are just too grim to imagine and as his friend and helpless to help him left me feeling a bit empty, to say the least, and it struck me how many people truly do live in some extremely emotional and physical "Dark Places" so my work is a message that there can be colour to be found in the emotional "dark places" that people live in and tend to drift into from time to time.

I built a six feet by three inch long, seven piece portable spectrum of the rainbow colours, and am physically bringing the pieces about with me, setting it up in various "Dark places" about the county, and photographing it there. This is the basis for my photographs. My paintings are complimentary to the photographs.

I decided to have the photoghaphs Digitally printed straight onto canvas. I'm hoping to have approximately 30 / 40 photos at a cost of €80:00 each. Costly.
The paintings are painted Acrylic on Hessian, a textural commercial wrapping media that usually ends up in the garbage but I like to use it up. I make my own frame stretchers and framing. All of the flyers and posters I can produce myself, so I'm stumped with the cost of photo development and printer ink.

I may have a Venue in Dun Laoghaire Town hall depending on my progress with the work. All I can offer in return for funding, apart from my sincerest thanks, is a mention to anybody who helps on any printed documentation related to the exhibition.
