Mid-Spring Garden
I didn't begin taking many photos of our flowers until after all the spring flowers had died back this year.  These are just a few that I did capture in their glory though.  I can't wait until next spring to get some pictures of our other pretty spring flowers!
This is one of our purple and white columbines.  I purchased two of these last spring from Lowes.  The first year, they were pretty small, but they really have taken off.  They are perfect double starlike flowers and make a wonderful addition to our mid-spring garden. This is one of my favorite pansies that returns each year.  It is a very deep purple, almost black.
This is some of our mixed dianthus or sweet william.  It keeps getting larger and larger with each year.  I tried starting some of this from seed this year, but it takes 2 years to get a flowering plant.  Since dianthus is often sold as an annual, it is usually just easier to purchase these at the store and plant them, rather than starting them from seed.
These are some of our deep maroon pansies.  These have been coming back for about 3 years now.
I love wave petunias!  We purchased a bunch of seedlings this spring off of Ebay.  It took them a while to take off, but now we have petunias everywhere.  They certainly brighten up our back deck with nice rich colors!
