Our Mid-Summer Side Garden
The following page is dedicated to our large side garden in the back of our yard along our wooden privacy fence.  These flowers are only from those which bloom in the mid-summer (July and August).  These are mostly the "tall pretties" of the gardens.  They are very colorful, and mostly consist of different phlox and daisy like flowers.
This is a very bright pink tall Phlox paniculata.  This grows profusely in our garden, and we continually have to keep it thinned.  It was one of the original plants in the side garden. This is our tall purple Phlox paniculata.  It is also very bright.  It often forms larger clumps of flowers than the other varieties of phlox that we have.
This is truely a unique flower.  I am not sure if this is truely a named flower, or if it was created in our garden by accident.  It is a white flowered tall phlox paniculata, but the center and part connecting it to the flower are purple.  I can't find this particular variety any where else... maybe a new hybrid?
This is such an elegant looking flower.  This is probably our least abundant phlox, but one of the prettiest!
This is a Shasta daisy called "Alaska".  This is this particular flowers first year in our garden, and we love it!
This is another shasta daisy variety called "Switzerland".  It is much like the Alaskan variety, but it is much shorter and fuller.  The petals are also much more rounded on the ends than the alaskan variety.
This is a pic of our purple coneflowers.  When we first moved to our house, this was about the only thing that was recognizeable in our garden, because it was so overgrown.  We ended up doing some "over weeding" and just about wiped this pretty out.  Luckily, it was hardy enough to hang around.  We are slowly getting a nice supply of these back.
I honestly have no clue what this plant is called.  We recently took out a large clump of zebra grass out of our side garden, and it allowed this plant to take off.  It was one of the originals from when we moved in.  It has very thick and strong blades, and blooms with these beautiful bright orangish-red blooms.  My goal is to one day find the name of this!!!
