Restaurante Chelo (especialidad en: carnes a la brasa - cabrito al horno y marisco fresco TEL 965 300 080) is an authentic Spanish restaurant in the village of Arneva, which is 3km from Orihuela in the province of Alicante. You will receive a warm welcome from Chelo who, along with her husband, daughter, mother, sister and nephew runs this brand new eating experience. As well as tapas and Menu Del Dia it is now possible to have a top quality meal cooked and served by the first-class staff of Restaurante Chelo.

Chelo is the former owner of Bar Chelo, which was also in Arneva. Due to the popularity of her food she has opened Restaurante Chelo to accommodate the clientele she has built up over the years. There is a traditional Spanish bar in the front of the restaurant where hams are hung and where there is a wide range of tapas available if you need a snack. Chelo's husband, Paco,opens the bar around 7am every morning (except Wednesday).

Restaurante Chelo serves only the best food, with local producers supplying top quality foods. Menu Del Dia is served every weekday from 2pm until around 3:30ish except for Wednesdays, when the bar is closed. It's impossible to give a menu as it varies from day to day, but you will be served with a mixed salad and bread followed by a starter and main course. If you are parital to garlic, then ask for some alioli, which is homemade and will keep the vampires away for a week! Wine, beer or a soft drink is included, as is a desert and coffee. In May 2005, all this is included for a cost of €10 per person.

Steaks are a speciality and are cooked over a wood fire to give extra flavour (steaks are not included in the Menu Del Dia menu). Restaurante Chelo also boasts an extensive selection of top quality wines and Chelo will be happy to suggest which wine will best accompany your meal.

As this is a traditional Spanish restaurant it is impossible to give accurate opening times! The bar opens daily around 7am and the restaurant is open for Menu Del Dia from around 1:30pm. The restaurant remains open until around 10pm, but please note the establishment is closed all day on Wednesdays.

HOW TO FIND Restaurante Chelo

From Los Montesinos or San Miguel de Salinas head towards Orihuela. At Bigastro take the second roundabout, second exit (by Framon Motors). This leads to Hurchillo At the first set of traffic lights in Hurchillo go straight over. Stay on that road until you arrive at Arneva, about 2kms down the road. It is signposted.. You will see a water pipes over the road and a garage at the entrance of the village.Restaurante Chelo faces you on the first bend in the village. Click here for a map.
