Lian is part of a growing new trend among young people in China. She is fashion conscious, trend aware, and even somwhat brave. She's not the quite, demure Chinese girl that sat back in the old days and allowed her feet to be wrapped.
This combined with her unique Taoist outlooks on life make her a very interesting person to hang out with. |

The Chinese medicinal herb, Lian Xin (above) is Lian's namesake. It is horribly bitter to taste, but is very powerful for helping to bring down a fever with delirium. It can even treat internal bleeding. It was insightful of her father to name her after this plant, as she is stubborn, and can be "hard to swallow" for a traditional Chinese person. But in the end, she is a kind, loving, and generous woman. Capable of soothing the emotions of anyone she is close to. |
