During the 8-0 win over Les Croupiers  After making a stuttering start, Legal & General transformed their season with two epic Cup runs and a comfortable mid-table finish in Division 1 of the 4Walls 4Sale Cardiff Sunday League.
I forced my way into the team at the start of the campaign in September but the arrival of new players in October made it difficult to get back into the side until I played the full 90 minutes of our 5-3 victory over JD Builders, heading an own-goal in the process!
Many of the winter fixtures fell foul to the weather but during this time I endured a frustrating period on the bench without getting on the pitch at all in some games.
However, after playing 90 minutes in a friendly, I was handed a start in the Division 1 Cup tie with Cardiff Cobras and repaid the manager's faith with my best performance of the season as I set up the first two goals in a 4-0 drubbing.
The long wait for my first L&G goal finally ended in my 42nd game for the club on April Fools' Day, and this was no joke!
During a friendly against Hazell Carr, I capitalised on a scramble at a corner to hook home from 5 yards out and put us 2-0 up midway through the first half.
In the Cups, I created Mark Curran's third as we lost 4-3 in extra-time of the Semi-Finals of the 4Walls 4Sale League Cup to Grangetown Bulldogs, who were unbeaten in all competitions.
We reached the Final of the Division 1 Cup, where we faced Maltings at the Cardiff University ground in Llanrumney. Under a baking hot sun, we went 3-0 down by half-time despite hitting the post early on and things looked over.
However, Maltings had a man sent off before Stuart Shelly headed in from a corner and then stabbed home another to reduce the deficit but despite a late onslaught we could not draw level.
Shelly & Chappell close down a Maltings player in the Final
Having come on as sub for the last 20 minutes on the left of midfield, my runners-up trophy now takes pride of place on top of my TV.
