| Peas & Q's- E-Mail Ettiquette Since I first started learning about computers and e-mail, I was hooked. Not that I am an expert...there is a lot that I would love to still learn, but I get by. I have a large web of friends that e-mail each other jokes and forwards constantly. This is fine and good. I enjoy some of the jokes and tear jerkers I receive, but what I do not like, is for my name and e-mail address to be forwarded to all and sundry! This is what I have been doing as a courtesy to others before me on the chain of e-mail and hopefully, the ones who receive mine will heed the little note I include and pass it on to the recipients of their forwards. I know it is long, but if several people get the message, the ball will start rolling. It is also a way to prevent some SPAMMERS from acquiring more e-mail addresses. NOTE: "This is being sent to you as a mass e-mailing or forwarding. You are receiving it as a BLIND COPY RECIPIENT, as I realize not everyone likes to send their name and e-mail address to others whom they do not know. Please do the same when you forward this message to your list of friends. Also, some forwarded e-mails come to you after being forwarded many, many times. Please "clean them up" by erasing all the previous senders and recipients, so that their name and e-mail addresses are not passed on down. Also, when I do a forwarding, I try to clean it, so that you are getting a copy of the original message and don't have to "open" the message so many times before you get to read the actual message. " This does not take a lot of time to do if you get used to doing it often and your friends down the line will get the point. Also I usually send back a copy to my sender when the message calls for it and the sender will also get the message. So far, no one has complained to me or called me rude. On the contrary. |
