THE FLYING BURRITO BROS.  Hot Burritos, Anthology 1969 - 1972/  AM records
This 2 cd set pretty much covers every important song this band which held Gram Parsons as a member ever released. It includes the entire first 3 releases and a lot more, including 2 live cuts.

THE BYRDS  Box Set / Columbia Legacy
4 cds of the Byrds. The only thing better than this would be having every individual album, but then you'd miss out on all the extra cuts.  You'd need this and all of the individual albums!

NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE / Columbia Records
NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE  The Adventures Of Panama Red / Columbia records
The great Jerry Garcia's off-shoot country band that joined the ranks of the first country-rock movement back in the 60's.  Features Jerry on pedal-steel.  Amazing.

DUANE EDDY  Twang Twang, The Duane Eddy Anthology / Rhino Records
The king of twang, Eddy's all instrumental works were works of  electric guitar art splashed across much more than just the surf canvas.

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL / Fantasy Records
Forgeddaboudit. You have to have every single album this band put out.  Including "Mardi Gras" if just for the Fogerty cuts.  Thank God for this bunch of guys from California who sounded like they came out of the swamps of Louisiana by way of Memphis.  The Best!

JOHN MAYALL  London Blues / Deram Records
This two CD set covers this great British blues artist's work from the 1964-1969.  Grungy blues at it's best.

JOHN MAYALL  Room To Move / Deram Records
The second twin CD set covers John's work from the years 1969-1974.  Not quite as interesting as the first set, but still well worth having.

THE BEACH BOYS   Pet Sounds / Capitol Records
A classic!  Brian Wilson's magnificent brain-child that changed music forever.  Paul McCartney said: "No one is educated musically until they've heard Pet Sounds...it is a total, classic record that is unbeatable in many ways".

BOB DYLAN  Nashville Skyline / Columbia Records
When Bob Dylan hit Nashville with buddy Johnny Cash, music city was never the same.  Dylan opened up the studios to rock artists and helped generate the growth of country-rock.  This album represents a turning point in his own music as will as the rest of the world's.

THE SUN RECORDS COLLECTION (THREE CDS) / Rhino Records
Sam Phillip's little Memphis label that released blues and hillbillly music.  These good old boys consisted of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Rich, B.B. KIng, The Howlin' Wolf, Roy Orbison and a host of other lessor knowns.  Great stuff

THE ORIGINAL FLEETWOOD MAC (6 CDS) / Blue Horizon
Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.  All of the great first 4 albums of pure British blues interpretations and fantastic originals, the two Blues Jam In Chicago albums featuring such stellar blues artiists as Otis Spann, Willie Dixon, Honeyboy Edwards, Shakey Horton and more, plus the last album that featured outtakes, alternate takes, etc.  Plus every disc has loads of unreleased stuff.  Top-Notch! And It sells at a budget price!

THE JERRY LEE LEWIS ANTHOLOGY, ALL KILLER NO FILLER (2 CDS) Rhino Records
This set starts out with a nice collection of Jerry Lee's early Sun Records sides and then goes on to include selections from his Smash, Mercury and Electra releases. Though Jerry did a lot of rock and roll and rockabilly type stuff during his early years, it's the later cuts that really go to show that the killer could sing some great country music too. This is a great all-encompassing collection that does a pretty good job of giving listeners a well-rounded perspective of this great artist's body of work.

THE BEST OF THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND, THE CAPRICORN YEARS (2 CDS / Era Records
The amazing Toy Caldwell of Spartenburg, SC along with George McCorkle, Tommy Caldwell and Doug Gray put out some of the finest down-home country rock music ever. Songs like "Take The Highway", "Can't You See",  "24 Hours At A Time", "Fire On The Mountain", "Searchin' For A Rainbow" and "Heard It In A Love Song" attest to their greatness. There's never been a band like 'em and never will again.  Classic Stuff.
