Paying The Price by Cheeya

Story behind the poem: As you've probably guessed <g> this poem is set during the season 2 episode 'The Price' Its Gabrielle's thoughts as she's on her way out the gate with her waterskin in her hand to give water to the troops.

I was so scared.

I saw the look in your eyes

And felt like running away.

You changed in that moment.

Will I ever have you back?

Will your eyes ever lose

The hardness they've acquired?

I can't lose you.

It's the price.

You said you'd pay it gladly

But I'm not prepared to lose you.

I can't let you go.

I saw the darkness rise,

Saw your glee at being in command again.

But I know it isn't really you.

You're not that woman anymore.

Please come back to me.

You are my strength,

As I am yours.

I have faith in you.

I'm going to help you.

I'm going to go out there and change your mind.

I'm going to be the light in that darkness only for you.

I'm not losing you.
