Story behind the poem: This poem is set just after Gabrielle discovers that Xena has died in the episode "The Greater Good" She knows she has to focus on saving the villagers and Salmoneus from a warlord but she needs help from her best friend... even in death.

Pain is all I feel

I've lost you.

My heart is broken.

There's so much I wanted to say to you.

I wanted to tell you how much you mean to me,

How much I love you.

It's too late.

I didn't tell you and now you are gone.

Why did I never tell you?

I thought you'd be ok.

You always were

Maybe I took that too much for granted.

You made me proud.

You took your sinful past and turned it around

You fought for good. You fought for me.

Focus, you told me.

How can I do that when my heart aches so badly?

How can I go on, knowing that you will never be at my side again?

How can I live without you?

I can't go on without your strength

I needed your guidance and you gave it gladly. I need it now more than ever.

You haunt my every waking thought

I'm trying to save these people but I don't know how.

Xena, I need you. I love you. Help me to find the strength I need to do this.
