Joxer was walking alone in the snow when he met the fists of Amarise. Joxer is dazed and as he gets up from the floor he tells Amarise he's looking for Xena and Gabrielle and asks her if she knows them because she's an amazon.

Amarise looks away from Joxer and points to a clearing down below where he sees the dead bodies of Xena and Gabrielle crucified by the Romans. Joxer can't believe his eyes, he falls to his knees and sobs but he can't take his eyes off of his friends. Eli approaches Joxer who tells both Eli and the young amazon that he is taking their bodies back to Greece because that's what they wanted.

Meanwhile, Xena and Gabrielle find themselves together in a magical new world. They’re standing on the edge of a tall cliff, watching a bright white light approaching in the distance. As it gets closer, the duo realise that angels are circling above them and they beckon the warrior and the bard to join them.

As they float off with the angels, Xena looks down into the darkness moments before winged demons from hell ascend to capture them. Gabrielle falls screaming Xena's name, who then dives after her into the pit of hell, but is stopped at the last moment. Xena has been caught by demon Callisto!

END OF TEASER

An almighty battle begins between Xena and the demon Callisto in midair. Xena falls and she is saved by the arc-angel Michael who carries her off while the angels fight demon Callisto.

Xena is now in heaven without her Gabrielle.

Gabrielle has been captured and taken down into hell.

Xena is shocked that Gabrielle isn't with her and she demands that she goes to hell to save her friend. The arc-angel Michael tries to stop her from going but Xena dives off the cliff to save her friend despite the warning from Michael. She doesn't get far before Michael grabs hold of her feet and carries her back up to heaven. Xena is mad! She says to Michael

"You either set me up with a pair of wings or I take another dive!"

Gabrielle awakens to find herself looking up at heaven wondering where she is. Callisto surprises Gabrielle who is shocked at the sight of her. The one person in the world that she hated most, who killed her precious Perdicus and tormented her best friend Xena. Callisto is very amused to find Gabrielle in hell with her.

Gabrielle has been stricken with an uncontrollable thirst and hunger and as Callisto taunts her to feast, Gabrielle realises she must abstain from eating the fruit of hell.

Joxer, Amarise and Eli are watching the Romans who have camped below the hanging bodies of Xena and Gabrielle. When they make a charge at the Romans, Joxer and Amarise fight and kill the Roman guards. Eli starts to cut the rope and pulls the nails from Xena's hands and feet that held her on the cross as Joxer carries her down the ladder. Then he goes to Gabrielle and he cries as he pulls the nails out of the feet and hands of his true love, his Gabrielle.

Back in heaven, Xena faced with a choice by Michael. She must either walk through the fire or the water.

Xena returns engulfed in flames after walking through the fire of divine purification, she has made the right choice. Xena is bathed in the holy water and emerges as a beautiful angel ready to rescue Gabrielle.

Amarise cuts a piece of Xena's hair and pledges to the skies that she will continue her work, but she is angry at Eli for making Gabrielle helpless with his way of love and peace.

Up in heaven, the angels are getting ready to fight the demons of hell,

Gabrielle is not so strong, she can't resist the temptation much longer, she is being driven mad by Callisto. Callisto can wait no more, she signals the other demons to hold Gabrielle down and force the fruits of hell down her throat. As she writhes on the floor, Callisto laughs in glee as Gabrielle is turned into a demon, one of them. Now it's Gabrielle's turn, she asks Callisto what it was like to hear her family scream as they were on fire and if she smelled the stench of burning flesh as the slowly and painfully died. Then Gabrielle says

"You wanted them to die so you'd have a reason to be a bitch!"

Before Callisto can react all the heavenly angels appear to battle the evil demons.

Xena spots Callisto and goes straight for her and strikes her hard, while Michael grabs Gabrielle and flies back to heaven with her in his arms. The big fight continues and Xena manages to cut off on of Callisto's wings, as she scampers off into a corner she tells Xena that she will spend eternity seeking revenge for the death of her family. Xena now an angel takes pity on Callisto and she takes her guilt upon her self to free Callisto from the torments of hell.

Michael throws Gabrielle into the holy water where she is transformed into her old self again. Gabrielle wants to know "Where's Xena?" Michael has to tell her that Xena gave herself up to free one of the demons.

Xena has been turned into a full demon and has taken over the leadership of the demons, and now she is telling them to take over heaven for themselves.

Gabrielle wants to know whom Xena gave herself up for and is then confronted by an angelic Callisto. She is so upset and angry with Xena for doing it. Gabrielle tells Michael that they can't trust her and tells of Callisto's terrible deeds on earth, but Callisto has been purified and cannot remember anything of her past.

Joxer and Amarise have taken Xena and Gabrielle's bodies to a temple but Eli is not with them he has gone. Joxer is still so upset over his friend’s deaths, Amarise says that they won't make it back to Greece because the Romans are after their bodies. So Joxer decides to bury them there.

In a role reversal, it is now Gabrielle who wants to rescue Xena from the pit of hell, but she must first get her wings by purification. She is led into a cave where Callisto, who was waiting there for her, confronts her. Gabrielle can't believe that she has been put with the person she most hates in the world. After some convincing on Callisto's part, Gabrielle realises that Callisto isn't all bad, it was because of Xena's actions all those years ago. So she finally learns to forgive Callisto for the death of Perdicus. Now Gabrielle can be baptised by Michael and given her wings, she is now a beautiful angel.

Xena leads the demons up towards heaven for an almighty battle when she spies Gabrielle who is waiting for her to lead Xena into a trap. Xena is too clever and sees that it's a trap and as one of the angels flies towards her, she slices his wing off. Then Michael sets upon her as all the other demons and angels battle for the heavens.

Gabrielle knows that she is want Xena really wants so she decides to lead Xena away from the others knowing that Xena will follow her.

Eli is on his knees crying to the heavens because he couldn't save his friends Xena and Gabrielle.

Xena and Gabrielle are fighting with great passion as they fly through the skies with their swords clashing.

Callisto has been transformed into light and she appears to Eli and says

"Love is the way, go to them"

Eli returns to the temple where Joxer and Amarise are guarding the bodies of their friends.

While up in heaven Xena and Gabrielle are still fighting hard, but Xena is the strong one and as one of Gabrielle's feathers floats down and lands at Michael's feet, he realises that Xena has won and captured Gabrielle.

Callisto is now with the bodies in the temple, she has instructed Eli to lay his hands on Xena and Gabrielle and pray, Callisto then floats towards Eli and turns into a light, which enters his body and gives her divine power through Eli.

Michael has found Xena with Gabrielle and tries to stop Xena taking her into hell, but the Warrior Princess cuts off one of his wings during their fight and she carries Gabrielle to the edge of the cliff where Michael makes one last attempt to save Gabrielle. He fails and they all fall off the cliff into the darkness.

All of a sudden Xena and Gabrielle awaken in the temple, Eli has brought them back to life. Shocked and dazed Xena and Gabrielle look across at one another, both speechless. Joxer, Amarise and Eli can't believe what has happened, they look at the warrior and the bard in surprise. Gabrielle reaches for Xena's hand and they both look at each other again. Callisto and Michael have appeared surrounded by heavenly light where Callisto learns that now is the time for her to be reunited with her family because of her selfless deed in the return of Xena and Gabrielle.

Gabrielle and Xena look around at their strange surroundings, still dazed. Joxer is so overwhelmed with joy he touches Gabrielle, he's too choked to speak. Gabrielle turns to Xena and says

"We're going to be together for eternity"

Xena replies "Yeah"
