Flashbacks from Fallen Angel

Ares confronts Kal about Xena, Kal is very annoyed with Ares for giving Xena the chakram that he stole from him.

Kal's army marches to the temple where Xena and Gabrielle where brought back to life. Kal sends a captured monk into the temple to retrieve the chakram, but as he touches it, the chakram sets on fire and kills the monk. The chakram remains in its place undamaged by the fire.

Joxer is still surprised at the miraculous resurrection of Xena and Gabrielle, he's not sure what to say to either of them, instead he gives Gabrielle some food. Xena looks blank, distant and unaware of her surroundings, when Amarise approaches her with the broken chakram now in two halves, she gives it to Xena who remains silent yet puzzled as to why this was given to her or even what it is. Amarise says that she hopes it can be fixed, but Xena doesn't know how to mend the broken chakram.

"So what is this thing anyway?"

Gabrielle looks at Xena completely shocked.

Gabrielle says "You're kidding me!" but Xena looks at her still confused.

Their journey has had a different affect on Gabrielle, she is a new person ready to face the world, so she decides to take Xena shopping.

While at the market, Xena has completely forgotten how much she hates shopping and she tries on some new clothes and buys them, Gabrielle has her sais, so she shops for a new weapon for Xena in the form of 2 sais much like her own.

Suddenly some of Kal's soldiers start rampaging through the market place and attack them, Xena stands by and watches Gabrielle, Joxer and Amarise fight Kal's men. Even when Xena is punched in the face and knocked to the ground, she does nothing, Joxer comes to her rescue but Xena will still not fight back. The only thing they can do is retreat. The leader of Kal's warriors shouts after them "Kal will have you!" a warning to Xena.

Back at the temple, Xena doesn't remember anything of her violent past no matter how hard Gabrielle, Joxer, Eli and Amarise try to remind her of who she is but she has lost her fire, she has lost herself.

Eli blames himself about Xena, he said he made a mistake, but Gabrielle says "It's not your fault". Eli said that maybe he knows someone who can help them, his friend Caleb.

As they all leave the temple, Ares puts in an appearance, unknown to them all, and he watches them as they go.

While they all walk through the forest to meet this friend of Eli's, Joxer asks Eli if he can talk to him about Gabrielle. Joxer wants her to know that he loves her and has loved her for a long time but he doesn't know how to tell her this, he needs advice. Eli simply says, "Love is the way"

They need food, they are all hungry so Amarise offers to go hunting when Gabrielle suggests that Xena go with her, but Amarise protests and says that she is quicker on her own. Xena says, "Not while I'm around"

While Xena has gone, Gabrielle uses the opportunity to talk to Eli. She says that the way of love was wrong for her and she can't follow it. Eli says he realised this and agrees with her. Gabrielle says Xena is lost, off balanced and not herself and she needs to help her.

As Amarise and Xena are stalking through the trees, Kal’s men capture Amarise, but they don't want her they want Xena. Amarise takes an opportunity to escape and she fights back but to no avail, she is knocked down with one of Kal's men standing over her with a sword poised to strike at her, but Xena steps in between the sword and Amarise. The only way to save Amarise's life is to go with the soldiers, so all Xena can do is agree and go quietly. The last thing that Amarise sees is the bad guys leading Xena away as she is knocked unconscious.

When Xena and Amarise hadn't returned, Gabrielle, Joxer and Eli look for them and find Amarise just coming round from unconsciousness. She tells the others what had happened and they immediately set off following the tracks that Xena and the soldiers left behind, they were going to rescue Xena.

Kal now has Xena, he wants her to get the chakram for him. Along comes Ares, he's mad with Kal for capturing Xena and he sets her free from the chains that bound her. Kal charges at Ares with his sword but Ares retaliates with an axe. They fight and Kal runs Ares through with the sword and Ares takes a swing at Kal and lands the sword in his neck. Neither one is hurt, just inconvenienced. They back away to remove the sword and axe and continue to strike at each other. Xena uses this chance to get away, but she sees a chakram shaped pattern on the wall and she stops to trace her fingers over it. As she does, her memories start to come back to her. While the two Gods are still battling, she escapes to the forest where she finds Amarise, Joxer, Eli and Gabrielle.

When they get to the house of Eli's friend, he's not there. Eli said he's always there, he never leaves. Xena has to tell him that she is sure that his friend is dead.

As Xena bathes naked in a hot bath, Joxer accidentally walks in on her, but he is so embarrassed he turns the other way and starts to leave. Xena tells him to stay if he wants to.

Joxer wants her advice about Gabrielle, he wants to tell her that he loves her but doesn't know how to. Xena says the only way is to tell her straight out, no strings attached, don't expect anything in return.

Waiting for Joxer to leave, Ares shows up in front of Xena. She doesn't recognise her past with Ares so he takes full advantage of her amnesia and begins to rub her shoulders, and to persuade her to be his warrior queen. Xena stands up and turns to face him, Ares stares at her naked body with his mouth open. Just as they are about to kiss, in walks Gabrielle and stops them.

Gabrielle, Joxer and Amarise are all puzzled as to why Kal and Ares want Xena so badly.

In comes Eli and says he thinks he has found something in the scrolls of his friend. The Gods want the chakram of light.

Ares and Kal fight and taunt each other, but realising neither of them could harm the other, Kal calls a truce to work together.

Xena stands alone at the top of a waterfall, she looks up and questions the heavens about herself as she sobs. Gabrielle overhears Xena and she walks up to her, when Xena asks her if she's doing the right thing.

Kal's soldiers surround the temple where, one by one, Gabrielle, Amarise and Joxer take them down. Gabrielle and Amarise climb the walls of the temple and throw Greek fire bombs at the gate to let the others in. Eli sneaks into the temple while Gabrielle, Amarise and Joxer keep the guards busy. Xena leaves Eli and goes into the temple on her own where she walks to the altar where the new chakram awaits.

She leaves the temple with her new chakram poised to throw, but she can't and drops it to the ground. Gabrielle grabs Xena as they rush into the temple and Amarise picks up the chakram off the ground and follows them in and they barricade the door behind them. Ares and Kal surround the place and threaten to break in down.

Joxer takes his chance to tell Gabrielle that he loves her before they are all killed, but Gabrielle is so surprised she can't reply to him.

Ares tells them to hand over the chakram and they can all go free, but it's a trap. The soldiers break through the doors and Xena places the broken two halves of the chakram and her new chakram on the alter and a bright light explodes in the room and the broken chakram fuses together. Just as Kal is about to kill Gabrielle, Xena grabs the chakram off the altar and throws it and slashes Kal and kills him. Ares is now worried and he tries to get the chakram off Xena by sweet talk but fails. Xena picks up her two chakrams and puts them both on the alter, the chakrams fly into the air and join together in a flash of light and a new chakram is formed.

Xena is back! She now knows who she is and she is back with a vengeance, she knocks seven bells out of Kal's men by throwing her new yin-yang chakram at them. There is a huge battle but they can't match the power of the reborn Xena and her chakram. Ares watches her as she leaps into the air catching her flying chakram and landing with it at his throat. He knows that she can kill him. Ares knows that this is a battle he can't win so he vanishes into thin air. It's over.

Gabrielle hugs Eli goodbye, they are heading back to Greece. Xena thanks Eli for bringing them back, then he leaves heading towards the horizon.

There is an awkward moment between Gabrielle and Joxer, he says he doesn't want anything back from her, he just wanted to let her know.

As the warrior and the bard walk together through the forest with Joxer trailing behind, They are back together forever.
