The sooner schooner
In every home game, after we score, the schooner storms the field and circles the goalpost at the North end of the stadium.
The guys in red shirts and white pants. Are the RufNeks. They are the oldest all-male spirit organization. They take care of the schooner, and the horses (Boomer and Sooner). They also fire modified shotguns, and carry paddles.
The name Sooner
The name sooners comes from the name given to people who crossed the starting line too "soon" back in the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. The land run was established to distribute territory to settlers in Oklahoma. People who settled the land before the Land was open where known as Boomers. The two names together make-up BOOMER SOONER.
